Setting a Woodland Wedding Date : It can be tricky deciding upon a wedding date especially if your of an age where all of your friends are also tying the knot….Your maid of honour is getting married in Bali in June, whilst your fiancé has committed to a weekend stag do in Amsterdam in July. Sound familiar? Here are our tips for setting a woodland wedding date for your nuptials.

Firstly, consider personally Significant Days. Check your own calendar for family weddings, anniversaries or other events, like big conventions or festivals in your local area (call your local chamber of commerce). Remember any annual occasions that involve your family or close friends.

Check for sporting fixtures. The last thing you want is your guests checking scores and having half an eye on the television. Here are some that we are aware of in 2016:

Grand National Saturday 9th April
The FA Cup final Saturday 21st May
Champions League final Saturday 28th May
Wimbledon Ladies Final Saturday 9th July
Rio Olympics 5th – 21st August
Rio Paralympics 7th – 18st September

Mother’s Day (always a Sunday) Make sure your mums are okay sharing this weekend with your wedding. And ask yourself: Do you want your anniversary to fall on the same weekend as Mother’s Day when (or if) you become a mum?

Bank holiday weddings allow guests time to recover before going back to work (and sometimes we will even have an extra day’s availability), but you may find that suppliers are both busier and more expensive on these dates. You need to ensure also that you give guests plenty of warning or you could find that they have prior engagements!

Father’s Day (always a Sunday)

Like you would with your mums, check with your dads about doubling up on this day. And grooms, make sure you’re okay with celebrating your anniversary the same weekend as Father’s Day if you decide to have kids.

Leap Years Greeks and Romans thought that starting any new life event— from getting married to baptizing a child— in a leap year would bring bad luck. Well, we hope that isn’t true or 2016 could be a lean year for us! Best of luck to you all setting a woodland wedding date
