Wood Chipping Footpaths: I haven’t posted for 10 days. In which time we have been very, very busy! We have been creating Wood Chipping Footpaths marked out with tree boughs.  An outdoor wedding always provokes thoughts of potential mud misery. Well not in our woods! I don’t know of any other woodland venue that is truly in the heart of the woods.

The other phenomenon was an amazing amount of steam arising from the woodchip pile each time that it was disturbed. As we dug into the pile and spread the Wood Chipping Footpaths in the desired areas our dogs, Neville and Ray couldn’t wait to sit and soak up the warmth. My pictures don’t really do it justice.

The overwhelming sense provoked by this week’s activities has been the smell. The wonderful, clean, aromatic smell of pine. The chippings came from fir trees and the product of this wonderful, natural product has produced a smell sensation in Lila’s Wood. I cannot say it has always been a joy to be working outside but this week , working alongside my practical and talented husband I have really enjoyed the ‘honest days work’. What’s more Neville and Ray relished the fresh air and that always makes me happy. When we took them to the pub for a beer and a doggy biscuit they couldn’t summon the energy to move away from the fire. No dog leads required.

With 4 weeks until we open for the Spring wedding season we are really enjoying the warmth and moreover the dryness. Spring appears to have arrived!
